Clinton Morrison has claimed that he doesn’t think Tottenham transfer target, Christian Eriksen, wants to stay at Brentford after hearing his latest comments.
The midfielder, whose short-term deal at Brentford expires in the summer, told BBC Sport that he is yet to decide on his future, but he wants to ‘win trophies’.
Tottenham recently secured Champions League football under Antonio Conte – the man who signed him for Inter Milan in 2020 and he now wants a re-union with him at Spurs.
Tottenham are the obvious targets for Eriksen because he has a great relationship with the club, its players, fans and the manager.
Despite the possibility of Eriksen staying put at Brentford, Morrison told Sky Sports News that he now feels the ‘first-class’ player will leave.
“After hearing that, I don’t think he will stay,” said Morrison. “The job he has done at Brentford, since he has gone their, it has been fantastic.
“I don’t know Christian Eriksen, but speaking to Tim (Sherwood) who knows him, they just say that he is a tremendous human being.
“The football he is showing at the moment, for what he has been through, is first class.
“He has improved players in that football team. It’s a tremendous story and he’s a brilliant player. But I don’t think he will be at Brentford next season.”

ERIKSEN NEEDED AT TOTTENHAM
Eriksen would fit the bill at Tottenham in so many ways. Conte needs someone who can see a different pass in midfield and he would provide that.
Added with that, he is someone who would control the game, and knit the forward line together – all of which he provides in bucket loads.
Then there is Eriksen’s experience, know-how and the fact that he would cost nothing, which would suit Spurs down to the bone given they need that depth for Champions League football.
Either way, it’s a no-brainer for the Denmark international to return, but it’s understandable if he wants to repay Brentford for giving him a chance in January.
