Tottenham Hotspur’s search for a new centre back has now taken them to Germany, with Wolfsburg’s Maxence Lacroix believed to be a new target.

Fabio Paratici needs to find at least one new centre back for Nuno Espirito Santo this summer, possibly two or even three depending on potential sales.

Fabrizio Romano now claims that Tottenham are keen on signing Wolfsburg ace Lacroix, adding him to their shortlist alongside Bologna’s Takehiro Tomiyasu and Sevilla’s Jules Kounde.

Lacroix, 21, only has one season of Bundesliga experience under his belt, but impressed massively following his move from Sochaux last summer.

A tall presence at 6ft 3in tall and also recorded as the Bundesliga’s fourth-fastest player last season, Lacroix appears to have massive potential.

His profile on the Bundesliga’s official website even compares him to Rio Ferdinand, suggesting that his ‘grace on the ball’ is reminiscent of the ex-Manchester United and England defender.

Ferdinand was a hero for United, racking up 455 appearances for the Red Devils whilst winning six league titles, two League Cups and a Champions League.

It’s a bold comparison for Lacroix to live up to, but if he can get close to the impact Ferdinand made at United, Lacroix would become a fan favourite at Tottenham – and make Paratici something of a hero in the process.
