Antonio Conte has admitted in the recent past that Djed Spence was not a signing he made, but one the club decided to make – and the Tottenham star has responded when asked about that, stating it does not affect him.
Spence, 22, joined Tottenham for an initial £12million fee that could reach £20million with add-ons. But Conte has said that it was a signing the club decided to make – instead of Conte himself. Unlike, Richarlison, Ivan Perisic and others.
On Saturday evening, Spence was afforded his second outing for Tottenham. The England Under-21 international came off the bench for the final few minutes of Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Everton. He made his debut against Forest.
Asked about Conte’s admission that he was a club signing, and not one specifically requested by Conte, Spence gave his take. He says that it is not something that really affects him, and that he is simply focusing on impressing Conte.

“I didn’t really see it, I don’t really pay attention. I just train, you know pay attention to my football and train hard. Let the rest do the rest obviously,” Spence said in quoted published by Football London this week.
Spence responds when asked about Conte admitting he was a club signing
Spence is a top talent. An England Under-21 day, a player that could be an England international in the future. Spurs have Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty as other options. Royal is decent, but is known for making regular mistakes.
One being his sending off at Arsenal. Doherty has come in against Brighton and Everton, and impressed. Even Conte has applauded the Ireland international. Spence needs to keep plugging away and take his chance when he gets it.
Spence might get his first start in the Carabao Cup, when Spurs travel to Spence’s old side Nottingham Forest on November 9. But he will be hoping for a chance before that. Although, Doherty looks good and Royal is back soon.
