Tottenham showed interest in signing Denis Suarez in the summer. Should they rekindle their interest in him in January?

Back in August, Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo claimed that Tottenham made a formal move to sign Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez.

The report claimed that Spurs had offered a fee in the region of €30 million (£27.32 million) for the exciting midfielder.

The 24-year-old is a stylish midfielder and impressed during his spell with Villarreal in the 2015/16 campaign, where he scored four goals in 33 appearances.

However, he has struggled to replicate that form for Barcelona. This season he has started in just three La Liga games, clocking only 383 minutes of top flight football.

He is likely to drop down the pecking order after the arrival of Philippe Coutinho, and according to reports from the Daily Mail, he is one of the eight players Barcelona are looking to offload in order to balance their books.

The club are open to offers for Suarez, and that is why Spurs must make a formal move for him again in January. He is a versatile young player, capable of playing in all three attacking midfield positions, and has a keen eye for killer passes.

If given time to settle, he could become a real asset for the club. With Barcelona eager to sell some of their players, they could be available at a much-reduced price.

He could prove to be a really well-thought signing for Spurs, should they manage to bring him to the north London club.
