Tottenham reportedly want £30m striker Paratici said was his ‘plan A’ at Juventus

Tottenham have joined the race to sign Atletico Madrid striker Alvaro Morata this summer – a player Fabio Paratici said was his “plan A” when signing him at Juventus in 2020. Morata has spent two years on loan at Juve.

But that loan deal has come to an end, and the 29-year-old is stuck in limbo. Juve and Atleti had a £30million agreement to make the deal permanent, as per Mundo Deportivo, but Juventus are unwilling to pay that figure.

That is, despite Morata producing a huge 53 goal involvements in the past two seasons for the Serie A giants. Scoring 32, he also laid on 21 assists. With Juve unwilling to meet their pre-agreed permanent clause, Spurs are keen.

Indeed, MD report that Spurs have joined Arsenal and Newcastle in the race for the £30million star. Perhaps unsurprising that Spurs are looking at him, given it was Paratici that signed him for Juve in 2020.

Paratici also brought Morata to the club in 2014, before selling him in 2016. Now, he is looking for a third swoop on Morata – a player he said was always his “plan A” back in 2020 after striking a two-year loan deal.

“Morata has always been Plan A for us,” Paratici said, as per Football Italia, after Morata’s arrival at Juventus. “Alvaro was our first choice and the player whose characteristics most suited our tactical project.”

He might be plan A for Tottenham now, but for Morata, would he really want to consider a move to Spurs? Harry Kane remains first choice and ultimately, unless Antonio Conte wants to play two up top, he is not joining.

Morata is a Champions League striker and while he has had his critics, he has produced some incredible form for Juventus over the last two seasons. He is easily worth the £30million price tag currently on his head.

Tottenham would love him, Atletico Madrid would love to sell him to Spurs – but for £125,000-a-week (SalarySport) Morata, it is not the right move. A move to Arsenal would much-better suit him, given they lack a top-quality striker.
