Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on Pedro Porro and could pay his €45million release clause in three or even four instalments.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims that Tottenham are now sorting out the ‘final bits’ of Porro’s move to North London.

Romano claims that the payment structure is being sorted out because Tottenham are paying the full €45million (£40million) release clause but in instalments.

Romano suggests that Tottenham could pay the £40million in three or even four instalments, lessening the financial burden right now.

It’s added that Porro has agreed a five-year deal with Tottenham and is ‘waiting’ for the deal to be done and dusted.

There is still a hurdle to clear though as Sporting play in the Taca da Liga final against rivals Porto on Saturday.

Football London note that Tottenham have been frustrated by constant delays in the move for Porro, suspecting that Sporting want to drag their heels so Porro can play in that game.

What will Pedro Porro bring to Tottenham?

This is an exciting move fro Tottenham fans and not just because it seems like Spurs will actually come out winners from a transfer saga.

Porro, 23, is a natural wing back who can slot straight into Antonio Conte’s 3-4-3 setup.

Emerson Royal hasn’t looked natural there, Matt Doherty isn’t a long-term solution and Djed Spence hasn’t yet been trusted to start.

Porro is just a step up from all three options based on his displays for Sporting.

A quick glance at Porro’s attacking numbers sum up his talent – three goals and 11 assists for Sporting in all competitions this season.

Porro is confident on the ball and loves to take the ball past opposition defenders – something Spurs have really lacked down that right side.

A great ball-carrier with real skill in his locker, Porro is a dynamic wing back with the ability to impact the game in the final third.

Porro impressed defensively against Tottenham in the Champions League too, earning praise from Jermaine Jenas who called him ‘different class’.

Whilst Porro must now show that on a regular basis, Tottenham will be confident that he can make the step up.

The former Manchester City ace is a quality wing back and should provide that attacking thrust Tottenham have been seeking with a move edging closer by the hour.
