Tottenham Hotspur are showing major faith in Plymouth Argyle after sending top talents Ashley Phillips and Alfie Devine to Home Park.

Tottenham have made headlines this month by making two important signings.

Forward Timo Werner has arrived on loan from RB Leipzig before Tottenham fended off Bayern Munich’s hijack attempt for Radu Dragusin.

Ange Postecoglou’s squad has been bolstered but Tottenham have also moved a few players out on loan.

Djed Spence went to Genoa as part of the Dragusin deal and Japhet Tanganga is nearing a move to Millwall whilst Sergio Reguilon completed a move to Brentford on Wednesday.

Intriguingly, Tottenham have now sent two of their top young talents to the same club in a major show of faith…

Tottenham Hotspur show faith in Plymouth Argyle as Alfie Devine joins Ashley Phillips

Tottenham allowed defender Ashley Phillips to join Plymouth Argyle earlier this month with the teenager picking up more Championship experience after his spell at Blackburn Rovers.

Phillips has already made a strong start with pundit Alan McInally backing him to become a ‘superstar’ after his display against Huddersfield Town last week.

The defender has now been joined by midfielder Alfie Devine, who joined Argyle on loan for the rest of the season on Wednesday.

Devine had spent the first half of the season on loan at Port Vale, bagging three goals and three assists in 26 appearances.

The pair will now join forces with Argyle and Tottenham have shown major trust in the Pilgrims after sanctioning this double move.

Phillips and Devine are two of Tottenham’s top young talents at 18 and 19 respectively, with both racking up the caps for England at youth level.

Spurs have now sent both players to train under a former England youth coach in Ian Foster, who has recently been appointed as Argyle boss to replace Steve Schumacher.

Foster has left his post as Steven Gerrard’s assistant at Al Ettifaq to become Argyle boss and he clearly has the trust of Tottenham after signing not one but two of their most exciting youngsters.

This will hopefully be a big few months for Phillips and Devine, and Tottenham will have real belief that Argyle can prepare them for Premier League life ahead of next season.
