Tottenham now have a golden chance to finally sign Fabio Carvalho after a rumour emerged from Liverpool.

What’s the story?

Well, Spurs were among those interested in signing the Portuguese wonderkid from Fulham in 2022.

It was the Daily Star who claimed that Tottenham wanted Carvalho, but were resigned to losing out on his signature to Liverpool, who eventually wrapped up a £5m deal in May.

Now – however – the Liverpool No.28 is set to leave Anfield, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The reliable Italian journalist hinted that a lack of playing time is the reason for this – Carvalho has only played two minutes of Premier League football since the start of 2023.

It has certainly been strange to see Jürgen Klopp overlook the Portugal Under-21 international this year.

Carvalho made a bright start to life at Anfield in the first half of the campaign, scoring a late winner against Newcastle in August while also netting against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

However – for reasons unbeknownst to us – he has fallen out of favour under Klopp.

Tottenham must get in touch with Liverpool

In our view, Tottenham need to take advantage of this situation.

For too long now, Spurs have missed out on some of the Championship’s best talents, all of whom have thrived elsewhere.

There was the infamous Jack Grealish saga when Daniel Levy offered just £3m to Aston Villa, who were only asking for £6m at the time due to financial issues, according to the Independent.

Tottenham have also allowed other talents who would have strengthened their side – such as Eberechi Eze, Michael Olise and Ollie Watkins – to go elsewhere.

Carvalho also slipped through their fingers, but now, a second chance has presented itself, and Spurs simply have to try again as the £32,000-a-week man gets set to leave Anfield.

Be sure to keep an eye on the situation, as the 20-year-old prospect’s future is now very uncertain.
