Tottenham have reportedly missed out on the chance of signing Inter Milan midfielder Stefano Sensi, with newly-promoted Serie A side AC Monza set to land the Italian on loan for the season.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the 26-year-old will join the Lombardy-based side on loan for the season with no clauses to make the deal permanent in 2023, with Sensi keen to reignite his career with Monza after a year largely spent on the sidelines with Inter.

Sensi was reportedly a £25m target for Tottenham in the January transfer window with Antonio Conte a huge fan of the Italian international, with the Spurs boss once labelling his former player as ‘extraordinary’ as the duo won the Serie A title 12 months ago.

However, it now looks like Tottenham have missed out on the chance of signing Sensi, with Monza now on the verge of adding the midfielder to their growing squad ahead of what will be a historic season, who are owned by former AC Milan chief and Italian president Silvio Berlusconi.

Monza will next season compete in Serie A for the first time in their history after the Italian media tycoon invested millions into the club which has seen the likes of Kevin-Prince Boateng play for the Biancorossi, with Sensi now joining the ever-growing list.

Indeed, Tottenham will feel annoyed about missing out on Sensi given how much Conte rates the midfielder, but with Yves Bissouma signing for Spurs earlier in the window and other targets lined up, the north London side will seemingly be fine without the Italian for next season.

Sensi might have slipped through Tottenham’s fingers, but there’s no denying that Monza have signed themselves an impressive player ahead of their first season of top-flight football in Italy, with the midfielder keen to impress for his new side.

The 26-year-old hardly featured for Inter last year, and with Monza, Sensi will be looking to make a name for himself in what could be an explosive season in Italy with the new side entering the ranks of the biggest clubs in the country, with the Inter star leading the charge.
