Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made their stance clear on a key player of theirs with hours remaining in the transfer window.

Transfer deadline day is expected to be a quiet one for Tottenham Hotspur with the North London club already doing the bulk of their business under Ange Postecoglou.

Leeds United midfielder Archie Gray completed his move to Tottenham Hotspur and the Lilywhites also brought in promising Swedish teenager Lucas Bergvall, despite interest from Barcelona.

Spurs have also signed Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke for £65 million so it appears that outgoings will be the order of the day for the North London club this summer.

Spurs not prepared to allow Giovani Lo Celso to leave for free

Estadio Deportivo reports Real Betis will only sign Giovani Lo Celso from Tottenham Hotspur if Spurs let him move as a free agent.

The Argentina international has less than a year left on his contract with the Premier League and is very much out of Postecoglou’s plans.

Former Betis midfielder Lo Celso reportedly felt the manager didn’t keep to his word last season when it came to chances given, and there have been communication problems this summer too.

Another side who are keen on Lo Celso is Aston Villa but the Midlands side would only sign the Argentine midfielder on a free transfer so this deal may well be at a stalemate.

HITC understands that talks are ongoing about Lo Celso moving back to Betis this summer and this comes after the Spanish side allowed Nabil Fekir to move to the Saudi Pro League.

As well as Lo Celso, sources have told HITC that the Spanish side are also keen on former Arsenal midfielder Dani Ceballos this summer.

Lo Celso set to depart Tottenham despite Postecoglou praise

It would be a sad way for Lo Celso’s time in North London to come to an end if he does complete a move to Betis.

Postecoglou seemingly preferred the defensive grit of Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr but the Argentine showed moments of promise when he was given a chance for the Lilywhites.

So much so that Postecoglou was impressed by Lo Celso’s impact on the team last season following a defeat to Villa.

“I thought Gio did really well today in the role we had him,” Postecoglou said.“He was creative and scored a good goal, he was always threatening and he worked hard.

“He hasn’t played a lot of football. The reality of it is that we’re not going to get too many back.”
