Illya Zabarnyi could be London-bound before the transfer deadline amid strong links with a move to join Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
It looks like there will be plenty of Premier League business done before the transfer window slams shut on Thursday.
Manchester United and Chelsea should be busy whilst West Ham United are on the verge of signing Lyon playmaker Lucas Paqueta.
Over at Tottenham, it doesn’t sound like anything is too imminent but Fabio Paratici may well have something up his sleeve in the coming days.
Illya Zabarnyi could be London-bound
Tottenham fans may well remember the name of Illya Zabarnyi.
Football London’s Alasdair Gold reported that Tottenham had been watching Dynamo Kyiv defender Illya Zabarnyi ahead of a possible bid.
Tottenham allegedly like Zabarnyi, and Gold claimed earlier this month that Zabarnyi could be an opportunistic signing before the transfer deadline for Spurs.
Dynamo Kyiv Inside, as relayed by football.ua in Ukraine, report that an official offer has now been received by an unnamed club based in London.
There has been nothing from other Ukrainian outlets so far, but these claims will leave fans wondering about a potential move to Tottenham.
Zabarnyi, 19, is considered to be one of the top young talents in Ukraine and is being backed for stardom in the coming years.
Whilst not the tallest centre back ever at 6ft 1in tall, Zabarnyi has shown quality with the ball at his feet and his ability in ground duels is very impressive.
Tottenham may well think that Zabarnyi has a huge future ahead of him and want to make sure they land him now before anybody else swoops in.
Who else in London could have made this offer?
Chelsea appear to be closing in on Wesley Fofana, so whilst they have been linked with Zabarnyi too, that move would be a surprise right now.
Arsenal aren’t really in the market for a centre back but West Ham United are being linked with Jan Bednarek, with Zabarnyi possibly a younger alternative for David Moyes.
Fulham have added Issa Diop and Shane Duffy this summer so we can’t see them fitting the bill either, whilst Crystal Palace have settled defenders in Marc Guehi and Joachim Andersen.
If an offer has come from London, we could think that Tottenham are the most likely club to have made a bid, especially given Gold’s claims earlier this summer.
