Fiorentina captain German Pezzella claims rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Dusan Vlahovic has been committed to the Serie A side this summer, via Corriere dello Sport.
Pezzella believes Vlahovic has had no difficulties focusing his mind on the job at hand amid speculation surrounding his future. The Serbian joined La Viola from boyhood side Partizan Belgrade in 2018, but produced a breakthrough season last term.
Vlahovic cemented his first-team place in 2019/20 with six goals in 30 games, although he only started 13 appearances. Last season then saw the 21-year-old take his game to an even higher level, with 21 goals in 37 games.

The 21-year-old’s remarkable efforts last term put a number of European outfits on alert. Sky Sport Italia claim Tottenham are ready to make Fiorentina an offer for Vlahovic close to the bid presented for Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez.
Atletico Madrid also offered La Viola €60m (£51m), but Fiorentina owner Rocco Commisso turned down their inclusion of add-ons. Now, La Viola want his future sorted by their Serie A opener against Roma on Sunday. But Pezzella is confident Vlahovic can focus his mind.
“The transfer market rumours are outside the group and outside the club,” Pezzella said. “We can’t think about that. We are here and every day [that] we put on this shirt, we are Fiorentina players, and we have to give our best out of respect for all the fans.
“It [the outcome of the transfer window] is unpredictable. Today, however, Dusan is with us [and] he is committed, as we all are. So that is the right path.”
Pezzella comments will encourage Tottenham to pursue Fiorentina striker Vlahovic
Pezzella’s comments will encourage Tottenham to pursue Fiorentina striker Vlahovic this summer. Nuno Espirito Santo and Managing Director Fabio Paratici will admire the Serbian for putting the speculation surrounding him to one side and focus on what he can control.
Vlahovic is clearly going about any potential transfer away from the Stadio Artemio Franchi with great respect to La Viola. Honouring the work the Serie A side have put in to help him develop, and to respect the club’s supporters.
The £28,000-per-week striker’s stellar goal record would stand out the most, though. Vlahovic has increased his output with each step taken in his rise, and Tottenham would be confident he can continue to strive in any move to the Premier League from Fiorentina.
