Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United scouted PSV Eindhoven winger Noni Madueke during their Champions League tie with Benfica on Wednesday, according to the Daily Mail.
PSV visited the Estadio Sport Lisboa e Benfica for the first-leg of their play-off after beating Galatasaray and Midtjylland in the previous two rounds. Madueke scored against both and offered an assist against Galatasaray, but left Portugal without creating during a 2-1 defeat.
Madueke also started the Eredivisie season strongly with a goal against Heracles Almelo to take his record to five goals and an assist in seven games across all competitions. Following a promising breakthrough year last term with nine goals and eight assists in 32 outings.

Tottenham are now considering bringing Madueke back to north London after letting the 19-year-old leave their academy in 2018. Manchester United and Leicester City are also long-term admirers of the England U21 international and scouted him against Benfica, too.
Bayern Munich and Serie A trio Juventus, Atalanta and Roma also sent their talent spotters to Lisbon to assess Madueke. PSV do not want to lose the teenager, at least until next year, but the outcome of their second-leg with Benfica could be crucial in determining his future.
Madueke still has three years on his PSV contract and like Tottenham, Arsenal want to bring him back to England. That’s according to The Sun, who note the Philips Stadion outfit value him at £22m, should he leave this summer.
Tottenham to pay price of letting Madueke leave for PSV?
It may be a hard pill for Tottenham to accept they should have done more to stop Madueke joining PSV. His rise in the Netherlands, especially in the last year, has their scouts flocking to run the rule again. But knowing they will face a heavy price to bring him back to England.
However, there were no guarantees Madueke would have become the star he is at PSV had he stayed at Tottenham. Particularly given it was in PSV’s U19s side and working with Ruud van Nistelrooy that his game found another level.
The Manchester United legend saw Madueke’s future out on the wing, rather than behind the striker, per the Daily Mail. Van Nistelrooy additionally helped the Tottenham product finetune his shooting and efficiency in the final-third.
