Louis Saha thinks Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur will ‘regret’ not securing the January transfer of Arsenal’s new boy, Leandro Trossard, as he told The Games Cabin.

The former Premier League striker thinks Leandro Trossard is a ‘great’ player following his January switch from overachievers Brighton and Hove Albion to Premier League leaders, Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta’s men might have missed out on Moises Caicedo, but they secured Trossard’s signature for £27 million (Sky Sports), as he was brought in for attacking cover after Gabriel Jesus’ injury during the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

There were a number of clubs keen on Trossard prior to his move to the Emirates, including Tottenham, but instead, he forced a move to the other side of north London, with his behaviour during his final days at Brighton not going down well with his then-manager, Roberto De Zerbi.

Either way, after scoring seven goals for Brighton this season, the Belgium international provides much-needed cover, experience, versatility and goal threat to this ever-growing, fearless, young and title-chasing Arsenal side.

But whilst the 28-year-old is looking to help the Gunners get over a line that they haven’t gone beyond in over 20 years, Louis Saha thinks he could have also been a help at Spurs.

“Yes, I do believe they’ll regret not signing him,” said Saha. “There are things we don’t understand behind why a transfer has or hasn’t happened, but Trossard is a great player who would have really helped Tottenham in so many ways.”

TROSSARD IMPROVES SQUAD DEPTH

In terms of starting XI, it’s all cooking for Arteta and there aren’t any worries, in fact, if you can guarantee that his players remain out of the treatment room from now until the end of the season, then the title is theirs.

But, as Jesus’ injury proves, that’s not going to be the case, so when those bench players come in, then they have to ensure the levels don’t drop.

With players like deadline day capture Jorginho, Scotland international Kieran Tierney and Trossard now on the bench, then those levels at the back have seriously improved.
