Jamie O’Hara has said on talkSPORT (9:11am, January 10, 2021) that he does not think that Tanguy Ndombele has a future at Tottenham Hotspur under Antonio Conte.
The former Tottenham midfielder believes that Ndombele is “incredibly talented”, but his work ethic and fitness is not up to the standards that Conte wants from his players.
The Athletic reported on Sunday that the 25-year-old wants to leave Tottenham in the January transfer window.
Spurs themselves are open to selling the £55 million signing from Lyon.
O’Hara said about Ndombele on talkSPORT (9:11am, January 10, 2021): “I think they will look to try to sell him, but they paid £60 million fo him. He was meant to be like a marquee signing, like a star for the club.”
The Sky Sports and talkSPORT pundit added: “As much as I like Ndombele – he is an incredibly talented footballer – some players just don’t have the fitness capacity to play at that level.
“Some players just can’t do it. When you have got a manager like Antonio Conte who expects fitness and running and being first in the fitness stats, he is just not up to it.”

Is Tanguy Ndombele’s Tottenham exit inevitable?
In our view, it does look like Ndombele will leave Tottenham, if not in the January transfer window, then in the summer of 2022.
The midfielder was booed by a section of the Tottenham fans while he was being substituted against Morecambe in the FA Cup on Sunday.
We know that Ndombele is a very good midfielder who can give a good pass and can link up well.
However, the midfielder has failed to play consistently well to the best of his ability, and he does not tend to work hard off the ball as much as Conte would like.
The problem that Tottenham will face in offloading the 25-year-old is finding a club who would be willing to pay the £55 million transfer fee that Spurs paid for him.
Then there is also the issue of the potential buying club paying Ndombele’s weekly salary of £200,000.
