Tottenham Hotspur are said to be keen to snap up Andre Gomes, who is on loan at Everton right now.

If Tottenham Hotspur do end up signing Andre Gomes ahead of Everton, the deal will appear very similar to the one which they struck for Toby Alderweireld in 2015.

The Telegraph have reported how Tottenham want to sign Gomes from Barcelona, even though Everton have him on loan currently.

And Spurs did a similar deal when Alderweireld had spent a temporary spell at Southampton.

The Belgian defender impressed hugely during his time with the Saints, but Spurs showed their pulling power by moving for the centre-back and getting him.

If they could repeat the trick with Gomes it would be an equally impressive signing.

Gomes has been in wonderful form for Everton this season, and looks perfectly at home in the Premier League.

If the Portuguese midfielder did move to Spurs after a year’s experience of playing in England, he could seriously chance the quality available to Mauricio Pochettino.

Spurs are likely to be able to offer Gomes European football, which may make give them an advantage over Everton.

However, Gomes has really taken to playing for the Toffees, so it could be a real battle for his signature in the summer.
