Tottenham Hotspur have made a new bid for Sporting star Pedro Porro – but their part-exchange offer has been rejected.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims that Tottenham have offered a player plus ‘guaranteed money’ for Porro.

Tottenham were hoping that this offer would finally get the deal done but Romano claim Sporting have rejected the bid.

Romano claims that talks will now continue as Tottenham are ‘insisting’ on a deal for Porro.

The Spaniard is understood to be keen on the move to North London but the two clubs still can’t agree a deal.

Sporting are sticking to the €45million (£40million) release clause in Porro’s contract with Tottenham’s attempts to talk them down so far failing.

Who did Tottenham offer to Sporting in Pedro Porro deal?

This will certainly set tongues wagging about just who Tottenham have offered to Sporting in their exchange deal.

The natural guess will be Emerson Royal, who has been struggling at right wing back and could give Sporting something of a replacement.

Yet with Porro playing as a wing back, maybe Sporting don’t feel Emerson is right for them and that role.

Lucas Moura is set to leave the club at the end of the season and Tottenham may have tried to include him in the offer despite a move to Brazil seeming likely.

There aren’t many candidates who really make all that much sense; Davinson Sanchez or Japhet Tanganga possibly, but money could be an issue there.

Maybe it was a loan player in the offer; Djed Spence heading to Portugal to replace Porro at right back may make some sense.

Porro, 23, has racked up 10 assists in just 23 games this season and appears to be exactly what Tottenham need at right wing back.

Backed as ‘very special’ by some scouts according to reporter Graeme Bailey, Porro appears to be Tottenham’s top target.

Sporting rejecting this latest offer means Tottenham will surely have to play the full £40million release clause – unless Fabio Paratici can work some magic.
