Speaking on the Talking Transfers Podcast, Graeme Bailey has been discussing Pedro Porro as Spurs look to sign the Spanish wing-back.
Porro is apparently Tottenham’s top target this month, and given that The Mirror have reported that the player has agreed to join Spurs, this transfer looks to be edging closer.
You may be forgiven for not knowing too much about Porro, but, luckily, Bailey has done some due diligence on the player speaking to scouts about the defender’s abilities.
Bailey says that the scouts he’s spoken to rate the 23-year-old very highly, claiming that some within the game think he could be very special.

Porro rated highly
Bailey shared what he knows about this young man.
“They want to do it. He is their top right-back target. Porro is the one they want. He has a £45m release clause. Spurs won’t pay the full release clause that Sporting are insisting, but we’ve learned that there are some within Sporting who are willing to take instalments,” Bailey said.
“Amorim is very powerful there and he’s determined to keep the player until the summer, so it looks difficult to get him out.”
“I’ve not seen a lot of him, but I’ve spoken to scouts who think he could be very special, they like him a lot, so it’s clear to see why they want him.”
Just what Spurs need
A new right wing-back is just what the doctor ordered in north London, and it sounds like Spurs may be onto a winner with Porro.
The issue now is getting this deal over the line, and as Bailey says, the fact that some within Sporting are coming round to the idea of staggered payments is a boost.
However, with Ruben Amorim seemingly desperate to keep the player, one has to wonder whether or not Spurs will be able to secure Porro’s signature this month.
