Newcastle United are about to make a bid for Tottenham Hotspur January transfer target Diego Carlos, according to Marca.
Marca are reporting that Newcastle remain keen on Sevilla central defender Carlos despite having earlier offers rejected.
PIF are now reportedly planning to make a new bid of €50 million (£41.94 million) which would reach €55 million (£46.13 million) with bonus payments.
It could make Carlos the most expensive signing in Newcastle’s history.

The Sun reported only last week that Tottenham have joined the race for Brazilian defender Carlos, and that the club’s board are ready to back head coach Antonio Conte in his quest to bring the 28-year-old to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the January transfer window.

Tottenham need to outbid Newcastle for Diego Carlos
In our view, if Tottenham are to sign Carlos so late in the January transfer window, then they will have to outbid Premier League rivals Newcastle.
That now seems unlikely.
The report in The Sun claimed that Tottenham chiefs are willing to give Conte £50 million for Carlos and Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore.
Now, if Carlos is going to cost £40m+, then Tottenham will not be able to sign both him and Traore.
The Sun are reporting that Wolves want £30 million for the Spain international winger.
