Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in Manchester United forward Anthony Martial, and Gary Neville’s previous comments on him will surely encourage the Spurs fans.
What’s the story?
The Daily Star reported this past Saturday that Tottenham are interested in signing Martial from Premier League rivals United in the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils value the 25-year-old at £50 million.
The France international forward’s weekly salary of £250,000 is a problem for Tottenham.
The report added that if United make a move for Spurs striker Harry Kane, then the forward could be included in a deal.
What Gary Neville said
Martial has been at United since 2015.
There have been occasions when Martial has looked very good, but there have been times when the former AS Monaco star has not been great.

Former United defender and Sky Sports pundit Neville probably summed him up best in August 2018.
Neville told Sky Sports’ Super 6 show, as transcribed by GiveMeSport: “Come on! Come on Anthony! This is not an Anthony Martial point – there is nothing more disappointing in life than not seeing someone realise their potential and talent.
“This guy has got everything you would want. Great finisher, speed, can dribble, can beat a man, composure in the final third. Come on! Come on!
“The potential, the talent, everything is there. But he’s the only person that can determine the outcome of his career and what he’s going to deliver and he has to go and grab it quickly because it’s one career, it’s one life.”

Would Anthony Martial make Tottenham better?
Martial is a talented player who has pace and technique.
The attacker can play out wide or in a more central role, and that versatility can be a boon.
What the forward needs to do is add consistency to his game.
Martial has scored 55 goals in 167 league appearances for United so far in his career.
At this moment in time, you would not think that Martial would be a like-for-like replacement for Kane.
But perhaps if Martial is played as a centre-forward on a regular basis, then he could prove otherwise.
