Some Manchester United fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to speculation that Nuno’s Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Anthony Martial.

What’s the story?

The Daily Star reported last night that Tottenham are interested in signing Martial from Premier League rivals United in the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils want £50 million as transfer fee for the 25-year-old France international forward.

Spurs are keen on Martial, but the former AS Monaco’s current weekly wage of £250,000 is a big issue.

The report has added that one way that a deal could happen is if United decide to move for Tottenham striker Harry Kane and include Martial in a potential transfer.

What are Manchester United fans saying?

As you can see from the tweets below, United fans are open to the idea of selling Martial to Tottenham.

Well, some of them anyway.

Martial is a good forward who can play out wide or more centrally.

However, the 25-year-old is inconsistent.

The United no.9 scored four goals and gave three assists in 22 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils last season.

Back in 2019-20, the forward scored 17 goals and gave six assists in the league.

United have signed Jadon Sancho this summer, which means that Martial could have his playing time limited next season.

If Kane leaves this summer, then Spurs will need to sign a striker.

Martial may not be an exact like-for-like replacement for Kane, but the Frenchman is versatile and quick and could do a good job for Spurs.
