Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Caglar Soyuncu but face a battle with London rivals Chelsea in the race for the Leicester City ace.

Tottenham have secured Champions League football having thrashed Norwich City 5-0 on Sunday afternoon.

That means Antonio Conte may now be able to dip into the transfer market for some big recruits.

Tottenham will be turning Cristian Romero’s move permanent but Spurs could still move for another centre back this summer.

A left-sided centre back makes sense for Tottenham to target but it’s a right-footer they’re now being linked with in Caglar Soyuncu.

Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Caglar Soyuncu

The Daily Mail report that Soyuncu has switched agents to join Wasserman, an agency that represent a host of players around the world.

It’s added that Tottenham would like to sign Soyuncu, with some wondering whether his agency switch is a pre-cursor to a big move.

Atletico Madrid and Chelsea are also thought to be keen on signing Soyuncu this summer.

Leicester may not want to sell Soyuncu but they could raise funds by offloading him, with Youri Tielemans and Ayoze Perez potentially on the move too.

Soyuncu, 26, became a Premier League star when he replaced Harry Maguire in the heart of Leicester’s back line.

That came a year after arriving from Freiburg for £19million and Soyuncu earned huge praise.

Hailed as ‘very, very quick’ by Rio Ferdinand, Soyuncu initially excelled in the Premier League and his aggressive style impressed many.

Yet Soyuncu has experienced a drop in form over the last year and didn’t start any of Leicester’s last five Premier League games.

That may leave Leicester thinking that this is the right time to offload Soyuncu for big money this summer.

Eric Dier seems settled in the middle of Tottenham’s defence though so it’s hard to see just where Soyuncu fits into Tottenham’s back three.

Unless Davinson Sanchez is sold, we can’t see Soyuncu arriving at Tottenham this summer.
