Tottenham Hotspur want Josko Gvardiol and his agent has now indicated that there is no agreement with another club – such as Chelsea.

Pretty much any manager would now love to have a top-quality left-sided centre back in their ranks.

Left-footed defender have become very popular in recent years with managers using them to create natural angles to play out of the press.

Tottenham have gone down that route too.

Ben Davies has been converted to play as a left-sided centre back in Antonio Conte’s back three whilst Clement Lenglet arrived on loan from Barcelona.

Lenglet has always felt like a stop-gap signing for Tottenham until they can sign a big-name left-sided centre back.

Tottenham Hotspur want Josko Gvardiol

Alessandro Bastoni and Pau Torres have been mentioned at times but a real blockbuster signing would be Josko Gvardiol.

The RB Leipzig defender looks set to become one of the best in the world; you could argue that he already is at just 20.

Gvardiol has been exceptional for RB Leipzig and his stock is only rising having enjoyed a superb World Cup with Croatia.

Strong, quick, good on the ball and a great reader of the game for his age, Gvardiol looks like the full package.

Jermaine Jenas has certainly been impressed, stating that Gvardiol has been ‘brilliant’ and ‘different class’ in Qatar.

Tottenham are very keen on Gvardiol and Tuttomercatoweb even claim that Spurs are using Ivan Perisic to try and convince Gvardiol to join.

Spurs are far from alone in the race though and some believe that Gvardiol will end up following Leipzig teammate Christopher Nkunku to Chelsea.

The Blues will certainly have the cash to spend under Todd Boehly and may be able to blow Tottenham out of the water.

However, agent Marjan Sisic has told Florian Plettenberg that he and Gvardiol are in no hurry to sign for another club.

Sisic added that there are no ‘pre-agreements’ in place with other clubs despite people suspecting a move to Chelsea.

Sisic did though claim that a number of ‘top clubs’ have asked about Gvardiol, leaving Tottenham in a major battle for his signature.
