Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks has been axed from Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad to face Burnley in the Carabao Cup tonight.
That’s according to The Mirror, who claim that Winks has been left behind in North London and hasn’t travelled to Lancashire.
Winks is described as being ‘desperate’ to play for his boyhood club, but Nuno has now ditched him from the Tottenham squad.
Winks did speak of his frustration at Tottenham last week, hinting that he would be open to leaving the club.
Nuno has responded by leaving Winks out of the Tottenham squad tonight, which may be the beginning of the end for the midfielder.
The Daily Mail add that Dele Alli is being left out too as Nuno begins to wield the axe at Tottenham.
Newcastle could give Winks a Tottenham escape route
Winks may not be short of offers in January, with Newcastle United keen according to The Sun.

Newcastle have money to spend after their takeover, and may want a Premier League-ready player in Winks.
Tottenham wanted £40million over the summer, but they surely wouldn’t land that kind of fee now.
Mauricio Pochettino once branded Winks ‘perfect’, but his time at Tottenham has turned into quite the opposite.
A move to Newcastle could help Winks get back on track, as not even being in the Tottenham squad simply isn’t good enough for him.
