Newcastle United are looking to raid Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur for midfielder Harry Winks during the January transfer window.
That’s according to The Sun, who claim that Newcastle’s new owners aren’t planning a major revolution in the January transfer window.
It instead appears that Newcastle will make calculated signings with Premier League experience.
One of the targets is Winks, who could come in and boost Newcastle’s midfield options.
Joe Willock arrived over the summer, but Newcastle still need more in midfield short-term and beyond.
Winks would likely be open to a January loan move, but a permanent deal could be expensive.
How much would Tottenham want for Winks if Newcastle come calling?
You would think it wouldn’t be exorbitant. Winks has managed just 61 minutes of Premier League action this season and looks to be way down Tottenham’s pecking order.

The 25-year-old needs to leave Tottenham and get playing again, even if just on loan at first.
Remarkably, Tottenham asked for a staggering £40million for Winks over the summer according to The Times.
Nobody was willing to pay that price, which was ridiculous for a player nowhere near Tottenham’s starting XI.
Newcastle can offer an escape route, but would surely be looking for a discount or just a loan deal rather than a £40million swoop.
