Tottenham Hotspur want Gabriel Jesus but their strained relationship with Manchester City could make a move somewhat difficult this summer.

Tottenham are back in the Champions League having secured fourth place with a 5-0 win at Norwich on Sunday.

That’s a major boost to the club’s finances and for their overall pull in the transfer market this summer.

Antonio Conte will want a number of signings this summer to help bolster his squad and a striker will be vital.

Harry Kane needs more support up top and adding another goalscorer would be ideal.

Gabriel Jesus has been suggested as one potential signing as he potentially prepares to leave Manchester City this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur want Gabriel Jesus

The Telegraph broke news of Tottenham’s interest on Monday, claiming that Spurs plan to challenge Arsenal for Jesus.

Erling Haaland is heading to Manchester City this summer and Jesus looks likely to be sold with just one year left on his contract.

Arsenal are the most likely destination for Jesus according to Globo Esporte in his native Brazil.

Yet Tottenham are now looking to get involved in the race in the hope of luring Jesus to the other side of North London.

You can understand the appeal; Jesus is superb at pressing, can play up front or out wide and has plenty of Premier League experience already.

Hailed as ‘fantastic’ by Pep Guardiola, Jesus remains highly-rated at City but it may just be his time to go.

The problem for Tottenham may be that their relationship with City may not be too great.

The Daily Mail claim that whilst Tottenham want Jesus, the relationship with City could be a real obstacle.

City pushed to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham last summer but Daniel Levy flat-out refused to sell the striker.

Fast forward a year and Tottenham now want a Manchester City striker and could receive similar resistance.

Tottenham will hope that City are open to a deal, and the situations are very different.

Kane is Tottenham’s talismanic striker whereas Jesus is in and out of the team and can leave for free in 2023.

Levy will feel his decision to keep Kane has absolutely paid off with Champions League football, and that stance will not change even if City refuse to sell Jesus to Tottenham.
