According to The Daily Mail, Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur are lining up a bid for Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse, a player Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal also want.
The Daily Mail have reported that Tottenham are considering re-signing Christian Eriksen on a free transfer, and that a move for Southampton midfielder Ward-Prowse is also ‘being lined up’.
The Daily Star reported in April that Arsenal are among the clubs who are keen on securing the services of Ward-Prowse this summer, with The Sun claiming that he will cost £75 million.
Arsenal or Tottenham Hotspur for James Ward-Prowse?
In our view, Tottenham Hotspur will have the edge over Arsenal in the battle for Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse.
Ward-Prowse has been at Southampton his entire professional club football career so far.
The free-kick specialist is 27 now, so he will look to move to a club where he can achieve great things rightaway.
After all, Ward-Prowse is in his prime now, and he will want to join a team that is set to win trophies and play in big competitions.
Arsenal will play in the Europa League next season, while Tottenham will feature in the Champions League.
Tottenham also have a world-class manager in Antonio Conte.
