Former Tottenham Hotspur favourite Christian Eriksen could be returning to London after opening talks over a move to Brentford.

The Athletic report that Brentford have offered Eriksen a six-month deal with the option of another year.

Eriksen will now have to think over that offer as he looks to find himself a new club this month.

Eriksen has been released by Inter Milan as Serie A rules prevent anybody from playing with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD).

The Danish playmaker had to be fitted with an ICD after suffering a cardiac arrest at Euro 2020 against Finland.

Now back to full health and seeking a return to football, Eriksen will be in demand as a free agent.

Brentford have made the first move to bring Eriksen back to the Premier League, potentially enhancing their Danish contingent.

Boss Thomas Frank is Danish. His assistant Brian Riemer? You guessed it, Danish.

Go look at Brentford’s first team squad on Wikipedia and you will be struck in the face by Danish flags.

Christian Norgaard, Mathias Jensen, Mathias Jorgensen, Mads Bidstrup, Mads Bech Sorensen, Mads Roerslev, Luka Racic and Jonas Lossl make up Brentford’s current Danish clan.

Owner Matthew Benham even owns a Danish club in FC Midtjylland, so the Danish influence runs strong at Brentford.

That may tempt Eriksen into joining Brentford, whilst a return to London is surely very appealing.

Eriksen joined Tottenham back in 2013, becoming a Spurs favourite during his time in North London.

Eriksen left the club in 2020, but many Spurs fans would love to see him re-join Tottenham to get his career back on track.

That move has though been ruled out by transfer insider Gianluca Di Marzio.

Instead, it looks like Eriksen could end up playing against Tottenham.

Brentford host Tottenham in the Premier League on April 23rd, meaning Eriksen will be in line for an emotional game against Spurs.

Even when playing for another Premier League club, all at Tottenham will be wishing Eriksen the best.
