Tottenham Hotspur have decided to sell Dilan Markanday to Blackburn Rovers in the January transfer window, according to The Daily Mail.

The report published at 4:02pm today has claimed that Blackburn will pay Tottenham an initial transfer fee of £500,000 for Markanday.

Performance and team-related bonuses could take the eventual fee for the 20-year-old attacker beyond £1 million.

Tottenham have also added a ‘significant sell-on clause’, according to the report.

The Daily Mail have reported that Markanday, who is out of contract at Tottenham at the end of the season, could undergo his medical at Blackburn this weekend.

Blackburn hope to complete the signing of the Tottenham academy graduate early next week.

Sensible decision from Dilan Markanday

In our view, it makes sense for Markanday to leave Tottenham for Blackburn in the January transfer window..

The 20-year-old winger has been a regular in the Tottenham Under-23 side, scoring 12 goals and providing five assists in 14 games.

However, the youngster has failed to establish himself in the Spurs first team.

Markanday made his first-team debut for Tottenham in the Europa Conference League against Vitesse Arnhem in October.

Despite impressive form for the Tottenham youth team since, the youngster has not made another first-team experience.

Blackburn are aiming to win promotion to the Premier League, and a move to Markanday could see the youngster grow and develop in a very professional and competitive environment.
