Tottenham Hotspur think that Arsenal transfer target Tariq Lamptey is too expensive for them and now want to sign Adama Traore, according to The Times.
The Times have reported that Tottenham are looking to strike a £20 million deal with Wolverhampton Wanderers over Traore in the January transfer window.
Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte wants to deploy the former Aston Villa winger as a wing-back.
Spurs looked at signing Brighton and Hove Albion right-back Tariq Lamptey, according to the report, which has added that the North London club think that the 21-year-old, who can also play as a right wing-back, is too expensive for them.
Tottenham stance on Tariq Lamptey encouraging for Arsenal
Tottenham’s reported stance on Lamptey is a boost for Arsenal in their quest to sign the Brighton right-back.
Speaking on The Transfer Window Podcast in late December 2021, journalist Duncan Castles claimed that Arsenal are “looking again to sign” the right-back.

Tottenham reportedly moving onto Traore from Lamptey means that Arsenal now have a clear run at the right-back.
Now, of course, Brighton may not be willing to sign the 21-year-old – described as “so refreshing to work with” by Seagulls manager Graham Potter on BBC Sport in September 2020 – in the middle of the season, but money talks.
In our view, Lamptey would be a very good signing for Arsenal and would give manager Mikel Arteta’s another option on the right side of defence.
