Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of signing Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger could be dented as Real Madrid now move to the front of the queue.

The Independent claim that Real Madrid are leading the race to sign Rudiger on a free transfer next summer.

Rudiger’s half-brother and agent Sahr Senesie is understood to have held talks with Real recently.

A rough agreement is in place for Rudiger to join Real as he approaches the final six months of his Chelsea deal.

Rudiger allegedly prefers a move abroad if he is to leave Chelsea, with Tottenham and Manchester United left lagging behind.

Tottenham to miss out on Rudiger?

This is terrible news for Tottenham who have been hoping to pull off an incredible coup for Rudiger.

Swapping Chelsea for Tottenham doesn’t seem all that wise at the moment, and it seems Rudiger has bigger plans in mind.

Dean Jones of Eurosport recently claimed that Tottenham actually have the biggest offer on the table for Rudiger and are one of the most serious teams in the race for his signature.

This was always going to be a tough deal for Tottenham to pull off given the major clubs battling for his signature.

Rudiger did work with Antonio Conte at Tottenham and Spurs may have hoped that the Italian’s pulling power would help.

That doesn’t seem to be the case, and we could instead see Rudiger swap Chelsea for Real.
