Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with signing Alessio Romagnoli – but the AC Milan ace could actually end up joining Fulham if they get their way.
Back in December, 90Min reported that Tottenham were preparing a pre-contract offer for Milan defender Romagnoli in the hope of signing him and Franck Kessie.
That made some sense; to start with, both Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici will be familiar with Romagnoli from his performances in Serie A.
Tottenham need to find a left-sided centre back this summer and Romagnoli certainly fits that bill, whilst his role as Milan captain may hint at the leadership Conte would fancy.
Out of contact this summer, Romagnoli could be a bargain on a free transfer for Tottenham.
However, there has been no movement on a switch to Tottenham since the turn of the year and it looks like he could go elsewhere.
Surprisingly though, it sounds like Romagnoli could still be heading to London at the end of the season.
TEAMtalk report that Fulham are lining up an ambitious move to bring Romagnoli to Craven Cottage this summer.
Marco Silva’s men are currently playing in the Championship but look destined for promotion back to the Premier League.
Fulham are seemingly planning for their return already by laying the groundwork for a move to sign Romagnoli on a free transfer.

That would be an incredibly ambitious move and it’s not often you hear of an AC Milan captain swapping the San Siro for Fulham.
Fulham seemingly believe they have a chance to pull off this audacious move, just as they did when singing Jean Michel Seri from Nice after promotion in 2018.
Reports from Italy have suggested that Romagnoli’s preference is to sign for Lazio, his boyhood club despite emerging in the Roma ranks.
It looks like Tottenham may be backing away from Romagnoli with RB Leipzig ace Josko Gvardiol emerging as the top left-sided target.
That may now mean Fulham have a real chance at signing Romagnoli, even if it seems incredibly bold.
