AC Milan central midfielder Franck Kessie has decided not to move to Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window, according to CM.

CM have reported that Tottenham want to sign Kessie now, but the Ivory Coast international has decided to reject their advances and finish the season at Milan.

Tottenham head coach Conte has identified the 25-year-old central midfielder as a potential target and asked the club’s managing director of football Fabio Paratici to sign him.

Paratici got in contact with Milan, and a deal was agreed between the Italian club and Tottenham.

However, according to CM, Kessie has told Tottenham that he does not want to join them now.

The former Atalanta central midfielder wants to win the Serie A title with Milan.

Milan are third in the Serie A table at the moment with 49 points from 23 matches, four points behind leaders, city rivals and defending champions Inter Milan, who have played 22 games.

Kessie is out of contract at Milan at the end of the season.

Tottenham Hotspur should make summer move for Franck Kessie

In our view, Tottenham should make a bid for Kessie in the summer of 2022.

The Ivory Coast international central midfielder will become a free agent at the end of the season.

So, Spurs will not have to pay a transfer fee for Kessie, described as a “very special” and “very, very good” player by former Chelsea star Pat Nevin on BBC Radio 5 Live Sport in December 2021.

Kessie has made 13 starts and three substitute appearances in Serie A so far this season, scoring five goals in the process.
