Neil Lennon and Pat Nevin praised the ‘very special’ Tottenham Hotspur target Franck Kessie, as they told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.
The duo stated that Kessie, who seemingly is wanted by Antonio Conte at Spurs, is ‘one of the best in Europe’ in his position.
This comes during AC Milan’s 2-1 defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League on Tuesday night, which saw the Serie A giants exit at the group stages.
Even though Kessie was part of a team that suffered an early exit, he still showcased a strong display against one of the best teams in Europe.
On paper, AC Milan v Liverpool is one of the giant fixtures in world football, but the Italian club are trying to get back to the footballing monsters they once were.
One player that is helping them get back is Kessie, as both Lennon and Nevin loved what they saw from him last night.
“It’s interesting when you see Hernandez go forward,” said Lennon. “As soon as Liverpool look to transition. Kessie is over there. He is like the minder.”
Nevin added: “Every time. He is actually better at defending than Hernandez.
“In actual fact, he does look very special Kessie. Very, very good.”
Lennon then responded: “Oh, he’s a great player, Pat. He is one of the best in Europe, I think, in that position.”

With Conte now in the Tottenham dugout, it’s going to be interesting what type of players they can now attract.
There is no doubt that with the trophy-laden coach in the hot seat, they will be able to lure much bigger names to Europe.
It wouldn’t be a surprise if there are a few dips into the Italian market during these coming transfer windows, as Kessie would be ideal for Tottenham’s midfield.
The box-to-box nature of his game would suit want Conte wants, along with his aggression and ability to bully opposition players with and without the ball.
