Tottenham Hotspur look set to sign one Serie A defender in Cristian Romero – and Bologna’s Takehiro Tomiyasu may not be far behind.
Sky Sports claim that Tottenham have agreed a £47million deal to sign Romero from Atalanta, bolstering Nuno Espirito Santo’s back line.
The signings may not end there though, with Fabio Paratici no doubt looking to use his contacts in Italy to land more additions.
Alasdair Gold reported on Tuesday that Tottenham are confident they will sign Bologna star Tomiyasu when his commitments at the Olympic Games ended.
The Athletic reported in July that Tottenham were on the verge of signing Tomiyasu for £15million plus add-ons, with the terms being finalised.
Everything has gone quiet since then though, with Tomiyasu playing for Japan in the Olympic Games over in Tokyo.
Tomiyasu impressed against France last week, but Japan’s tournament is now over after a semi-final defeat to Spain on Tuesday.

With Tomiyasu’s Olympic commitments now at an end, he may be available to finalise a move away from Bologna – and that takes him another step closer to Tottenham.
Capable of playing at right back, centre back and even as a left-sided centre back in a three-man defence, Tomiyasu’s versatility should be very appealing.
Tottenham have had to bide their time with Tomiyasu, allowing them to focus on Romero in the meantime.
Now, with Japan out of the Olympics, Tottenham are closing in on being able to add both defenders.
