Tottenham Hotspur have been chasing the signing of Bologna defender Takehiro Tomiyasu, and he impressed at the Olympic Games on Wednesday.
Tottenham need defensive additions this summer, and Fabio Paratici’s knowledge of Italian football means Serie A players are wanted.
One of them is Tomiyasu, with the Bologna ace wanted by Tottenham for many weeks now.
Earlier this month, The Athletic reported that Tottenham were on the verge of signing Tomiyasu in a deal worth £15million plus add-ons.
That deal hasn’t been completed yet, with Tomiyasu now off at the Olympic Games with Japan – and he enjoyed a superb game on Wednesday.
Japan hammered France 4-0 in the Olympics clash, with Takefusa Kubo, Hiroki Sakai, Koji Miyoshi and Daizen Maea all on the scoresheet.

Tottenham fans have been taking to Twitter to react to Tomiyasu’s performance, with some feeling that his ability to play as a left-sided centre back despite being right-footed is ‘pretty phenomenal’.
Others called Tomiyasu ‘perfect’ and a ‘baller’, even claiming he is better than Jules Kounde – it’s now over to Paratici to decide whether or not to sign Tomiyasu.
