Crystal Palace have reportedly emerged as a contender for Harry Winks this summer, and it might just hand Tottenham the ideal chance to sign England defender Marc Guehi. Spurs are being linked with the ex-Chelsea man.
Winks, 26, surpassed 200 appearances for his boyhood club in 2021-22 but has fallen down the pecking order under Antonio Conte. Spurs are also set to complete the signing of Yves Bissouma from Brighton this week.
So, Winks needs to go. He needs to find a club where he can play regularly, and revive any faint hopes of a place in England’s 2022 World Cup squad. Reports this week say Patrick Vieira is keen on taking him to Selhurst Park.

Palace need a midfielder with Conor Gallagher returning to Chelsea and Cheikhou Kouyate out of contract at the end of the month. Winks is a suitor – but it might just hand Spurs the chance to sign Guehi this summer.
Winks could hand Tottenham ideal chance to sign Guehi
Alasdair Gold reported recently that Tottenham love Guehi – admiring his leadership, given he is already captaining Palace on occasion. However, they know the defender Palace signed for £18m (Guardian), will now go for “big money”.
Indeed, Guehi has a contract at Palace until 2026 and the likelihood is that any fee for Guehi might be the best part of triple Palace’s initial outlay. So, if Spurs are to sign him, pulling that price down is important.
Now, they have the ideal chance of doing that with Winks. Not only can they reduce that price by including Winks in a deal for Guehi, but they strengthen their chances of a deal given Palace want to sign Winks themselves.
Perhaps, an offer of £30million plus Winks would hand Spurs the chance to strike a deal with the powerful centre-back. It all depends on how much Palace want Winks, and how much the value of Guehi.
