Aston Villa are keen on raiding Tottenham Hotspur for midfielder Harry Winks, according to a report from The Telegraph.
Villa have already struck one big deal by signing Emiliano Buendia from Norwich City, but they are now seemingly looking to splash more cash.
A midfielder is on Dean Smith’s wish list following the end of Ross Barkley’s loan spell, and it now looks like Winks is emerging as a top target.
How does Winks feel about his Tottenham future?
The 25-year-old has come up through the Tottenham ranks, so you could understand if he had emotional ties and wanted to stay at Tottenham.
Yet after starting just nine Premier League games last season, The Athletic claim that Winks wants to leave Tottenham this summer.
A move to Villa may well appeal to Winks, who needs regular first-team football if he is to claw his way back into the England squad.
Tottenham want Winks to Villa in swap deal
Rumours of Villa’s interest have sparked reactions from Tottenham fans, who seem to have a pretty lofty swap deal in mind.
Unsurprisingly, Tottenham fans want to sign Jack Grealish from Villa and believe Tottenham should offer cash plus Winks in a deal to finally bring Grealish to North London.
Others suggested throwing other players into the deal such as Moussa Sissoko, Dele Alli and Erik Lamela, but the chances of Grealish actually joining Tottenham seem very, very slim – even if Winks does end up at Villa.
