
Tottenham Hotspur look to be closing in on their new manager – and it isn’t Mauricio Pochettino after all.
Links with Pochettino emerged late last month, but it’s Antonio Conte who Tottenham are pursuing after he left Inter Milan last week.
Conte brought the Serie A title back to the San Siro, but departed as the club prepare to sell a number of key players due to financial issues.
Fabrizio Romano now claims that Tottenham are in advanced talks with Conte, whilst The Telegraph back that up with a move seemingly drawing closer.
If the Italian does head to Tottenham, you can almost guarantee that he will be looking to use a 3-4-1-2, 3-1-4-2 or 3-4-2-1 system with big emphasis on his wing backs.
That’s what he did at Chelsea, and then did the same at Inter; he won the title with both teams.

Some will remember that winger Victor Moses suddenly became a title-winning wing-back under Conte at Chelsea, and Spurs fans seemingly see the same for Matt Doherty.
Doherty was an outstanding right-sided wing-back at Wolves, but struggling to replicate that form with Tottenham, looking uncomfortable in a back four.
Spurs fans have now taken to Twitter to suggest that Doherty is primed for a big year if Conte takes the job, predicting a rejuvenation for the Irishman…
