Tottenham Hotspur could scupper any Aston Villa plan to sign Johnstone permanently this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur supporters are reacting on Twitter after Spurs were linked with a simmer move for Manchester United’s Sam Johnstone, who has spent the past 15 months on loan to Aston Villa.
According to the Sun, goalkeeper Johnstone is wanted by Tottenham as back-up to Hugo Lloris, whose primary understudy, Michel Vorm, is out of contract this summer.

But would the 25-year-old, who is valued at £6.5 million according to a separate Sun report, be a worthwhile addition to Mauricio Pochettino’s team, which also features Argentine shot-stopper Paulo Gazzaniga?
Here’s what Spurs fans are saying on Twitter – and not many of them seem to think so…
Johnstone has impressed since his move to Aston Villa, and hinted in March he would be happy to remain at Villa Park next season.
A permanent transfer could be difficult to engineer however, if Steve Bruce’s team fail to gain promotion at the second time of asking.
Should Tottenham make a move for the on-loan Aston Villa star?
