Tottenham Hotspur need to sign centre backs this summer, and Fabio Paratici is moving for one with a potential deal for Atalanta’s Cristian Romero.
Toby Alderweireld wants to leave, Davinson Sanchez’s future is unclear, Joe Rodon is still a relative Premier League rookie and who knows what to expect from Eric Dier. It’s time; it’s time for Tottenham to spend big on defenders.
Takehiro Tomiyasu looks a likely signing from Bologna, but Paratici isn’t done in the Italian market just yet.
Football.London report that Tottenham are now in advanced talks to sign Atalanta defender Cristian Romero in something of a double deal involving teammate Pierluigi Gollini.
Gollini’s move looks to be imminent whilst Romero will take a little longer, but the Argentinian centre back is the more exciting of the two targets.
Romero, 23, was signed by Paratici at Juventus back in 2019. He was loaned straight back to Genoa and then to Atalanta, with the latter having a purchase option which will likely be activated this summer to facilitate a big profit.

Paratici is the one who engineered that loan-to-buy move with Atalanta, which could now help Tottenham secure Romero’s signature.
It’s fair to stay that Tottenham fans are pretty excited.
Tottenham supporters have been taking to Twitter to suggest that Paratici is now ‘cooking’ in the transfer market and could pull off a ‘masterclass’ by signing Romero.
Others think that Romero would be a sensational signing, even better than Raphael Varane, believing that he is ‘absolutely class’.
