Tottenham Hotspur want Djed Spence and are pushing to have him signed by the weekend in a deal worth up to £20million.
Tottenham have secured a left wing back in Ivan Perisic but Antonio Conte would still like to add another right wing back.
Matt Doherty found some form under Conte earlier this year and Emerson Royal only joined from Barcelona last summer.
Yet both players have been linked with leaving the club and whilst it’s only likely that one will go, Tottenham need a wing back who fits Conte’s style of play.
Tottenham Hotspur want Djed Spence
One of the top targets for that role has been Middlesbrough talent Djed Spence.
The 21-year-old impressed on loan at Nottingham Forest last season and is now wanted at Tottenham.
Not only does Spence have the attacking ability to play the wing back role under Conte, but he would also be a vital addition to Tottenham’s homegrown numbers.
This rumour has been going on for weeks and even months now with Tottenham seemingly close to signing Spence and then no deal being done.
The Mirror now claim that Tottenham are still in advanced talks for Spence and a deal could be agreed by the weekend.

The fee involved would be £15million plus £5million in add-ons, taking the deal up to the £20million Middlesbrough want.
We’ve been here before though.
Sky Sports reported late in June that Tottenham were hoping to have a deal of £15million plus add-ons done by the weekend of the 1st of July.
That of course didn’t happen, but here we are again with Tottenham allegedly close to a deal.
Spence, hailed as ‘unbelievable’ by ex-Boro defender Sol Bamba, has been left out of Middlesbrough’s pre-season trip to Portugal, which does hint that a move is on the cards.
Let’s hope this isn’t another false dawn and that Tottenham do finally get Spence snapped up, giving Conte the right wing back he wants.
