Tottenham Hotspur want Daniel James and Jesse Marsch hasn’t completely closed the door on a Leeds United exit before the deadline.
Tottenham are on the verge of sending winger Bryan Gil on loan to Valencia once again.
However, Spurs would like to bring in a replacement before finalising the move.
Gil may not play an important role under Conte – or any role for that matter – but Tottenham still don’t want to be caught short.
Fabio Paratici now needs to find a winger and it looks like he fancies raiding Leeds for James.
Tottenham Hotspur want Dan James
Reports from Alan Nixon and the Daily Mail claim last week suggested that Tottenham were showing a real interest in James.
The belief is that James can offer real pace to Tottenham’s attack whilst providing an option on both the left and right flanks.
Whether Leeds would be willing to let James leave the club is another matter.
Leeds spent more than two years chasing James and finally landed their man from Manchester United for £25million last summer.
Yet it now looks like Jack Harrison and Luis Sinisterra will be the first-choice wingers under Jesse Marsch moving forward, leaving James on the bench.
That was the case against Everton on Tuesday night, though James did come on as a second-half substitute.
After the final whistle at Elland Road, Marsch told the press that he is a big fan of James and isn’t expecting big outgoings in the final hours of the window.
Yet Marsch did leave the door ajar, simply saying that we will ‘see what happens’ with regards to James’ future.
“I like Dan, I think he has been a big part of what we’ve done here, before I came and since I’ve been here,” said Marsch. “I don’t anticipate big movements in the group, but we have to just see what happens in the next 24 hours,” he added.
It sounds like there could be a deal there if Tottenham really want to push for it.
Tottenham would like a loan-to-buy deal for James and contact has been made, but Everton are also interested, meaning Spurs will need to work hard to get this deal done before tomorrow’s deadline.
