Everton want Daniel James and are now rivalling Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign the Leeds United winger this week.

The Toffees have already landed one winger this summer by signing Dwight McNeil on a permanent basis from Burnley.

Frank Lampard also has Demarai Gray, Andros Townsend and Anthony Gordon as wide options, whilst Alex Iwobi could still be used there.

Yet with Gordon still on Chelsea’s radar ahead of the transfer deadline, Everton need to have other wingers in mind.

Everton want Daniel James

The latest name on Everton’s wish list appears to be Leeds United wide man Daniel James.

Fabrizio Romano has taken to Twitter to claim that Everton have asked about a potential deal for James.

It’s stated that Tottenham Hotspur have discussed a possible move for James as they chase a new winger.

It looks like Bryan Gil will be leaving for a new loan to Valencia, but only once Tottenham have secured a replacement for the Spaniard.

James is one name on their list, with Tottenham chasing a loan-to-buy deal for the Welshman.

Romano claims it’s ‘not an easy deal’ to get James out of Leeds but both Everton and Tottenham are now trying.

James, 24, only joined Leeds from Manchester United last summer after the Whites chased him for more than two years.

Hailed as ‘brilliant’ by Marcus Rashford, the speedy winger featured in 32 Premier League games last season, registering four goals and four assists for Leeds.

It would be a surprise to see Leeds let him go this summer and not just because they spent so long chasing him in the first place.

Leeds have already lost one winger this summer with Raphinha joining Barcelona, and with Luis Sinisterra taking time to settle, letting James go would be a gamble.

Everton and Tottenham are seemingly hoping they let James go though, with a real fight emerging ahead of deadline day.
