Tottenham are reportedly considering a surprise move for Inter Milan veteran Edin Dzeko as he continues to bang in the goals in Serie A – and Japhet Tanganga might just hand Spurs all the help they need to get a deal done.

Dzeko, now 36, made it three goals in two games and nine for the season on Sunday. Inter came from behind to beat Atalanta 3-1, taking them to fifth in Serie A before the World Cup break. Inter have struggled to play at their best.

A report from Italian outlet CMW states that Spurs are interested in raiding Conte’s old side for Dzeko. It comes almost seven years after he left England to join Roma from Man City in 2016. He scored 119 goals in 260 Roma appearances.

Having penned a two-year deal at Inter in 2021, his contract expires at the end of the season. Spurs need cover for Dzeko and the ex-Wolfsburg man might the striker they turn to. Tanganga might just help convince Inter to sell.

Tottenham considering Dzeko: Tanganga might help get deal done

Tanganga has managed just one senior appearance for Tottenham this season. Reports, again from CMW claim that Spurs are open to his exit in January, requesting only a fee of £8.75million. They want him gone ahead of January.

Back in the summer, Inter were one of the clubs being linked with a move for Tanganga. Failing to get the England youth star, Inter have since signed Francesco Acerbi on loan. He turns 35 in February and is hardly a long-term signing.

Inter will still want a defender to come in at the back. Meanwhile, Dzeko is hardly going to cost anything given his age and contract situation in January. The only chance Inter have got of keeping the Bosnian is by penning a new contract.

So, perhaps Tottenham – given they want to get rid of Tanganga, could offer the defender to Inter – who have wanted him in the summer. In return, they get Dzeko – meaning Inter will not miss out on any kind of return for the veteran.
