Tottenham could now be about to make a typical Daniel Levy signing following some significant news regarding Leandro Trossard.

What’s the story?

Well, Spurs are said to have recently made contact with Brighton over a deal for the Belgium international – according to 90min.

Now, Trossard has been told to leave by Roberto De Zerbi – as revealed in a statement released by his agent, Josy Comhair.

In the statement, it is said that De Zerbi “humiliated” the 28-year-old in front of his Brighton teammates, and has repeatedly said that “a transfer is the best solution” for everyone involved.

Therefore, you would presume that a deal will now be quite straightforward for Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici to complete.

So, what makes Trossard a typical Levy signing?

Well, Tottenham have not been known to be huge spenders in the market since the 60-year-old took over from Alan Sugar in 2001.

Trossard should not command a significant sum due to his situation at the Amex Stadium, as well as the fact he only has 18 months remaining on his contract.

Additionally, the Belgian earns around £60,000-a-week at Brighton, wages which Levy would presumably be happy to take on as opposed to spending over £100,000-a-week on a superstar.

Of course, Trossard is a good player, but he is not someone likely to improve Conte’s starting XI.

In that respect, it falls in line with plenty of other typical Levy signings such as Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura, both of whom are good footballers, but not enough to take Spurs up a gear.

Trossard is also a good player, but he won’t push Tottenham closer to the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal.

Will Tottenham sign Trossard?

It remains to be seen for certain, of course, although we would expect a deal to go through if Tottenham are genuinely interested in signing Trossard, as some media outlets are claiming.

The player himself will surely jump at the opportunity to join, where he can play in the Champions League Round of 16 while also using some of the best training facilities in Europe.

Be sure to keep an eye on Trossard’s situation, after he was left out of the Brighton squad to face Liverpool.
