Tottenham Hotspur are in the market for a number of centre back signings this summer, but there are conflicting claims emerging over Marseille’s Duje Caleta-Car.

Sportklub in Croatia reported earlier this week that Tottenham had ‘already agreed everything’ with Caleta-Car ahead of a move to North London.

A fee of around €24million (£20.5million) is stated, with confidence in his homeland that a move to Tottenham is on the cards.

That feeling isn’t mirrored elsewhere though.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold is one of the most reliable Tottenham sources out there, and he has claimed on YouTube that Caleta-Car is not a player Tottenham want to sign right now.

Fabrizio Romano has had his say too, claiming there is no agreement and no talks between the player or the clubs, with the Croatian seemingly no on Tottenham’s radar at all.

Director of football Fabio Paratici may have a strong relationship with his opposite number Pablo Longoria at Marseille.

Longoria was chief scout at Juventus from 2015 to 2018, meaning he reported directly to Paratici and would work closely with him before they went their separate ways.

If Tottenham do want a Marseille player, that line of communication would surely be open, but it doesn’t look like Caleta-Car will be arriving.

West Ham United want the former Red Bull Salzburg ace whilst a January move to Liverpool fell through, so Caleta-Car being linked with a move to England isn’t a surprise – but seeing him join Tottenham now certainly would be.
