Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly being braced for an offer from a Serie A club for a young forward this summer.

Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur have been wanting to add a striker to their team this summer as a belated replacement for Harry Kane.

HITC had reported that Spurs were keen on Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez but no deal has been done with the Lilywhites yet to make a move for the Mexican forward.

Dejan Kulusevski has been trialed as a striker under Postecoglou but there is another option. Argentine forward Alejo Veliz has yet to make a big impact at Spurs and he could be on his way out of the club this summer.

Alejo Veliz subject of ‘bid’ from Italian giants

Journalist Uret Iugt on X has claimed that Serie A side Fiorentina are interested in Veliz and could make a move for the Argentine this summer.

He further adds the Italian club could make a formal offer to Tottenham in the ‘next few days’ to secure the 20-year-old’s services.

Iugt mentions no details about what sort of an offer Fiorentina may make to Spurs but it appears the wheels are in motion to get the signing done.

Italian journalist Rudy Galetti adds that Fiorentina are ‘increasing their pressure’ to land the Argentine with developments reportedly expected soon.

Veliz yet to make an impact since moving to Tottenham

Spurs signed Veliz from Rosario Central in August of 2023 with the 21-year-old signing a deal with the Lilywhites until 2029, so his contract still has five years to run on it.

Spurs sent Véliz on loan to Sevilla in January, but his situation didn’t improve at the La Liga side with the Argentine making just six La Liga appearances with all of these being substitute appearances.

Despite struggling at Sevilla, the Spanish side’s manager, Quique Sanches Flores, was keen to praise the ‘extraordinary’ Veliz.

“Alejo Veliz has trained in an extraordinary way this week,” Flores said. “He is tremendously hungry and does everything we ask of him. He will surely be ready for [the game]. He’s a boy who is going to mark a clear path of what the team needs again.”

After his unsuccessful loan spell at Sevilla, Veliz has now returned to Spurs and will be hoping to make an impact for the North London club or indeed another side if the club wants to move him on.
