Tottenham want Memphis Depay and Barcelona could now look to hatch a swap deal involving left back Sergio Reguilon.

Tottenham have already added one versatile attacker this summer having lured Richarlison away from Everton.

Richarlison’s ability to play thorough the middle or out wide is exactly what Tottenham needed, and he should offer ideal support to Son Heung-min and Harry Kane.

There have still been linked to other forwards though with Tottenham still in the market for any quality transfer opportunities that may come their way.

Tottenham want Memphis Depay

One intriguing rumour of late has surrounded Memphis Depay, with Tottenham allegedly keen on the Barcelona man.

SPORT reported earlier this month that Tottenham had taken steps torwards signing Memphis this summer.

Tottenham reportedly wanted to pay £14.5million for Memphis, just £2.5million short of Barcelona’s asking price.

Memphis, who has been hailed as a ‘terrific talent’ by Patrick Vieira, has just one year left on his Barcelona deal.

That may leave Tottenham eyeing up a bargain for the 28-year-old attacker.

Barcelona now appear to have hatched an idea of their own though – to swap Memphis for Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilon.

Reguilon was offered to Barcelona last week with agent Kia Joorabchian seeking to secure a transfer.

Reguilon has no future at Tottenham under Antonio Conte and was left out of the pre-season trip to South Korea.

Barcelona are seeking competition for Jordi Alba and Reguilon could fit the bill; oh how they will regret selling Marc Cucurella now.

Gerard Romero – one of the more reliable Barcelona sources out there – has now reported via Fichajes that Barca are planning to launch a move in which Memphis and Reguilon switch clubs.

Barcelona have been targeting other left backs like Marcos Alonso and Javi Galan, but offloading Memphis to land Reguilon could make sense.

Neither player is wanted at their current club given the other competition in their positions, and their seems to be respective interest in the duo.

Swap deals are very rare in football though and whilst this one does make some sense, it would still feel like a surprise to see Tottenham sign Memphis after already landing Richarlison.
