Clinton Morrison has urged Tottenham Hotspur to bring in Julian Nagelsmann as their next manager ‘right now’, as he won’t be going to Chelsea and he seemingly wants the Spurs job.

Tottenham, who have Cristian Stellini in the Tottenham dugout until the end of the season, were smoked 6-1 by Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Sunday and Morrison thinks the club can’t afford to wait until the summer for Julian Nagelsmann

Many feel that the German should have come in when Antonio Conte was booted out during the international break.

Is Daniel Levy possibly harming his chances of hiring the 35-year-old because, by July, there could be no European football at Hotspur Way and Harry Kane could be headed for the exit door?

It has been suggested that Nagelsmann, who was sacked by Bayern Munich, is ‘unconvinced’ by Chelsea, but he is ‘open’ to a possible move to Spurs.

If that’s the case, then, as former Premier League striker and Spurs fan Morrison pointed out, the north London club need to do one thing and one thing only, as he told Sky Sports News (23/04/23).

“You bring in the manager you want for next season,” said Morrison. “We were talking about Nagelsmann. How he has met with them and he wants the job.

“Well, bring him in now so he can access the squad. He was linked to Chelsea and I don’t think that’s going to happen with Chelsea.

“Tottenham are still a big football club, so if Tottenham come knocking, then you go and take that job. What are you going to wait for? You will then be out of a job, not saying out of sight or out of mind because he is a top manager, but for me, you bring Nagelsmann if you think he’s the right man. Don’t wait until pre-season. Bring him in right now.”

WILL STELLINI REMAIN IN CHARGE FOR MAN UNITED?

It’s only the small matter of facing Manchester United on home soil on Thursday night, then Liverpool at the weekend for Spurs, who aren’t just at risk of losing a Champions League place for next season, but European football altogether.

Liverpool, Aston Villa and Brighton – all behind Tottenham in the Premier League table – are breathing right down their necks.

At this rate, they all finish above the north London club, but will Cristian Stellini still be in charge for those matches? It has been suggested that Ryan Mason is ready to take charge if Conte’s right-hand man is booted out given that Newcastle drubbing.
